I have always been an advocate of putting Jesus at the Center of Easter. As a young lady running a Bible Club for kids in Lagos Nigeria via @hopefortbibleclub long before I moved to Germany and became a mom, I made it a point of duty to create activities that put Jesus at the Center of Easter because truly he deserves to be at the Center of it all! Jesus paid the ultimate price for me, for us all! When the justice of God came looking, he stood in my place! He stood in your place and that of our children and that’s why we can boldly say we are children of God and when we die, we have hope that we will rise again and join the saints in heaven! Hallelujah! This is the most significant event of our salvation story as Christians. We have to find a way to let our children know this too! Off course – for us @inlushmeadowkids we believe in getting the message across in a fun, colourful and exciting way!
That’s why as soon as I saw the Book – A Jesus Easter from @thegoodbookcompanyuk I jumped at it! The title is a full message on its own! Infact, i recommend that you start there. Have a Jesus EASTER with your family using A Jesus Easter Book as a guide. Let them know that Jesus is the Center of Easter. This child friendly devotional breaks down the message of Easter in a way children can relate, You can get a copy here – A Jesus Easter. It is a devotional specifically created with children in mind. It connects the entire Bible to the event of the cross. Starting at creation to the cross, it contains short discussion points and activities. It can be used in small children groups and at home too!
EASTER is not about egg hunts. It’s about JESUS! He died on the cross and rose again again after 3 Days. We have to find creative ways to get our kids to have a truly Jesus Easter by walking them through the experience in a fun way! A Jesus Easter devotional for kids is written by a seasoned children’s teacher who served with Bible Study Fellowship for many years as Director of its Children’s Division. She has incorporated activities, questions that would get your kids thinking, journalling and more! Your kids would get to read the Bible, think, write, draw as they learn about the most important part of our salvation story as Christians. As always I’m on the look out for resources that have activities to keep the minds of children engaged. The notes from the introductory chapter attests to the fact that it a well thought out book that truly has children in mind.
I hope you enjoy using it! Feel free to tag us when you do get a copy. I highly recommend it for children’s groups, Children Church Departments, or you can get your friends kids and do it together. Add cookies and Tea (or any healthy snack) to the mix after the session and you’ll have them coming back to learn more over and over. As they come always remind them that – Easter is not about egg hunts. It is about THE CROSS! It is about JESUS!
