Nkechi and Osemhen did a fantastic job ! Two different angles reminding us that – IMPOSSIBILITY IS NOTHING!

Incase you didn’t take notes, here’s a recap of some of some of the key points

  • When life throws you Lemons, make Lemonade out of them –  You are not helpless. Don’t turn yourself into a pity party project. Commonize the challenge! You’re not the first to take a Career Break and you certainly won’t be the last.  Rise up to the Occasion. You’ve got skills. Put them to work. Remember how Nkechi turned her lemons into Lemonade. So can you!
  • Reject the Mental Blocks and Narratives that don’t serve you –  Be like Osemhen. She not only smashed the narrative that women can’t go back to school after having kids, she broke the glass ceiling and went on to bag her MBA from one of UK’s prestigious Universities with 2 Kids and a Pandemic Baby*wink *wink Mama was firing on all cylinders – IMPOSSIBILITY is truly Nothing.
  • If it’s not working, don’t be afraid to Pivot. In Nkechis’s words, MOVE- You are not a TREE – Having a fixed mindset will take you nowhere. Be open to possibilities and change even if it’s really scary. There’s no shame in the game Mama. You don’t owe the world any explanation. Do what’s best for you, your family and your kids. If that includes dusting up your certificate after several years, please do it mama. Remember Nkechi Machi did it after 6 YEARS! and now she is the VP Growth at Shecluded –  A Fintech Company that provides growth Loans, Business Support, Asset Building tools and Financial Inclusion Education for African Women
  • IMPOSSIBILITY IS NOTHING! -What’s most important to you in this Season of your Life? Identify it and Optimise it. Be like Osemhen. Right now she is Optimising for Time. After getting her MBA, she has moved up the Career Ladder and has been able to negotiate for a Job that allows her more time with family and friends.  For you it might be optimising strategically for a Promotion at work  or Nomination to represent your organisation at a Global event. There’s no stopping you Mama. Optimise all the way Up!
  • The Bandwagon approach to doing anything never yields results. – Remember that a goal without an actual plan written down with timelines is simply a WISH. Thank God the year is coming to an end, it’s a great opportunity to start strategizing for the future.  The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time to do it is Now! Recall that Osemhen had to plan many months ahead for her Oxford University Application, ticking off things one after the other till she got In. What do you need to do for your next goal to be achieved? Create a SMART plan and factor in all your variables.
  • Stop the pity party and the many excuses – What’s that skill you’ve been taking for granted? Recall Nekchi used her skills to make money after resigning at work. Infact her first client was her former Boss.  Oftentimes, it’s the little things. Look again, there is certainly something in your hands that you can multiply while you’re in Transit, In between jobs or even if you just recently moved to a new environment.
  • Never Stop Learning! Take on that certification, Attend courses online. Being a Mom doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have things put  together.
  • Finally, did you notice how Nkechi bragged about her friend? She actually shared the stage with her friend, openly and publicly supporting  her –  Tomi Olatunde of Cuddles Blog – The popular Homeschooling Mom. Truly your Network is your Network!
