When an atmosphere is full of God’s presence, there are certain spirits, certain things that will have no access to it. We have also been praying for our children as a Community throughout the month of September. It will be counterproductive if our homes isn’t an atmosphere of God’s presence. NOW LET’S DIVE DEEPER INTO THESE POINTS

1. Music! – Music is such a powerful tool. It has the ability to create a nurturing, expressive, and enjoyable environment. It can change moods, bring calmness to a tense atmosphere, and foster a sense of togetherness. Make sure to pay attention to the kind of songs that are played in your home. Use Music to control the atmosphere, waves, and emotions of your home. At different times play worship songs and let it keep rolling in the background. Wake children up in the morning with songs. Play it first thing when you wake up in the morning to reduce the early morning crankiness associated with getting ready for school
2. Be the Joyful Mom! Joy Irritates the Devil! Find ways to manage your stress and anxiety so that you stop being the cranky, moody Mom. Let the Joy of the Holy Ghost fill you against all odds. It’s not always easy but If we make a conscious effort and ask the Holy Spirit for help, it is possible. Take in deep breathes intermittently, Journal your anxious thought and pray about them. Find a trusted friend you can discuss issues with when they arise so you can Be the Joy Giver in your home! Ask for help. Delegate and assign tasks from time to time. Take walks and have Me Times so you can refresh and release your stress hormones so you don’t act out on your kids. Do little things that make you happy. If your children see you praying then the Joy of the Holy Ghost should be all over you. They should see the Joy of spending time with God. Do your best to continue to live a life of Joy. The Bible Says the Fruits of the Spirit is Love, JOY, peace, patience…. Against such, there is no law!

3. Place God’s word in strategic places in your home – The Bible Clearly instructs us to do this. Deuteronomy 6:6-9 – 6 “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates”. You’ll discover that it doesn’t cost much to print these scriptures, frame them, and hang them around your home. Your restroom, your living room, dining room. Let God’s word be in strategic places.

4. A family that Prays together stays together. Make it a point of duty to always say a quick short prayer, holding hands as a family before leaving the house. Particularly in the mornings. It helps to strengthen the Spiritual bond of the home

5. Family Devotions – Based on your Schedule as a family, find a time or day that works best for the family that you can be consistent with and do your best to keep at it no matter what. It doesn’t have to be 5:00 a.m. every morning if you are not morning people as a family. It could be ever Saturday morning or every night. Just find the time or day that works for you and your family and stick with it. Consistency is Key.
6. Bible-based Affirmations could be included in the daily routine. Reading God’s word aloud from the Bible from time to time also helps. These affirmations have a way of reminding your children who they are and it indirectly informs them on how to act and behave. It will certainly take some time but gradually they will get it. If I say I’m a Royal Priesthood, pushing my sister isn’t part of a Royal conduct.
7. Pray around your home from time to time. Maybe once a month at midnight or any other time that works for you
8. Hospitality – The Bible Says – Abraham entertained angels without even knowing. Hospitality has a way of sanctifying your home. Do it to the best of your ability. It honors God and glorifies God. It indirectly teaches children to be kind and welcoming. Invite your children’s friends over particularly if you have teenagers. Let them know your home is open to them. This gives you an up close and personal view of the Lives of your children, what to start praying about, which friend to let go, which family to pray for, their value system and so much more. Of course, put boundaries in place and let them know as much as they are welcome certain things are not allowed in your home.

9. Parents you are Prophets! Speak only kind words to your children. It is sometimes not easy because these kids can test our patience but we must resist the urge to lash out at our children. After reading The Whole Brain Child, I realized that the Brain of a child does not fully develop until way after 18. It helped me lower my expectations significantly. Children will make mistakes and do silly things sometimes. We must correct them and be firm about what is acceptable but we must also bear in mind that their Brains are still developing. Correcting and discipline is what makes them do better. So no need to use hurtful words. Let’s just keep doing our part. One day they’ll get it.
10. Be open to the holy spirit’s guidance. He might encourage you to take communion as a family, fast as a family, Pray at certain times of the day, etc. Remember the story of the Children of Isreal when they were leaving Egypt. God instructed them to kill a special kind of animal and put the Blood on their Door Post and when the angel of Death passed by it wouldn’t visit them. Let’s stay sensitive to the Holy spirit to receive instruction per time. Evil abounds on this earth but those who dwell in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
